Bentley University
(Boston), in partnership with Euromed Management (Marseille), is offering th 7th Global Business Ethics Symposium on this topic.

The event is sponsored by the State Street Foundation, with the support of the UN PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) initiative and the U.S. Consul General in Marseille.

With the participation of the United Nations, 200 leaders from the academic, corporate, government and NGO communities will discuss and debate “Stakeholder Management in Practice: Global Challenges, Possibilities and Limitations”.

Stakeholders are individuals or groups that affect or could be affected by an organization’s activities, products or services and associated performance ( from Freeman, 1984, Mitchell, Agle & Wood, 1997). This principle includes a company’s primary stakeholders (staff, clients, investors) as well as its competitors, regulating bodies, governments, suppliers, local communities and civil society organizations.

As a central theme in today’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) policies, organizations have been encouraged to adopt a strategic approach to stakeholders in their managerial decisions. Yet, despite the reality that this premise is generally accepted in the business world, its application often falls well short of a well shaped and structured strategy. The ability to constructively engage one’s stakeholders is becoming an increasingly important dimension of successful management in the twenty-first century, affecting virtually every aspect of business, from products and processes, to company practices and governance.
