A wake up call

Globalisation has highlighted at least one undisputed positive effect: the increasing awareness that our planet is finite and that mankind is inflicting damage, sometimes irreversible, on his peers and on our environment.
Progress has undeniably improved life conditions for billions of people. However, the short-term vision of our civilisation has created a level of disparity never before attained in the history of Humanity, and has entailed the destruction of many ecosystems. Until recently, such statements were usually held by a few "naïve" alarmist activists; the message is finally getting through to the greater public. More than a mere trend, the concept of a long-term vision respectful of human beings and of our environment is beginning to find a place within industry. In the past, Management Schools have often adopted a hesitant view regarding this issue, long considered to be a subject of controversy. In recent years, the Schools have initiated different programmes, though still isolated, concerning environmental and social themes. Some establishments facilitate admission for students from underprivileged social backgrounds, others implement energy-saving policies, encourage their students to create humanitarian projects, organise conferences aimed at enhancing awareness in these respects, etc.
This has been the path chosen by Euromed Management, since 2002. The Management School was given the opportunity to completely rethink its learning processes and to integrate a holistic vision, which naturally took into account a sustainable development approach to management. Although we are only at the beginning of this process, a global coherence is emerging within Euromed Management.
